Anticipation is high for the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix at the GC Riyadh Playoffs, where fifteen elite riders will compete for ultimate glory in one of show jumping’s most prestigious events. This thrilling showdown promises unforgettable moments as the sport’s top names go head-to-head, each striving to claim this year’s coveted title.
The first ever iteration of the exclusive LGCT Super Grand Prix took place in 2018. That year saw Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander rise to victory over the tour’s top riders aboard her mare California. In 2019, the legendary British rider Ben Maher was the only rider to go clear in the two challenging 1.65m rounds with Explosion W.
Following a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, the Playoffs were back in 2021. The talented Henrik von Eckermann from Sweden claimed the title aboard King Edward, fending off a fierce field of competitors. 2022 saw German sensation Daniel Deusser secure the trophy with his mount Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z as only one of two riders to go clear over the two rounds.
Last year, Henrik von Eckermann was looking to be the first rider to claim the prestigious Super Grand Prix title twice in their career. But France’s 2023 Julien Epaillard expertly piloted Dubai du Cedre to victory, narrowly beating out 2021’s winning duo of von Eckermann and King Edward.
All eyes now turn to Riyadh as the winners of each stage of the 2024 tour make their final preparations before touching down in the Saudi Arabian capital. Fans eagerly await to learn who will write their name in the history books this year in the prestigious 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix. Join us in Riyadh as we witness the best of the best battle it out in the GC Playoffs.
My vision is clear. Only the best for the best.
