Luca Coata claims second victory of the day in the CSI2* 1.45m Grand Prix presented by PremiuMares

As the sun began to set on the Circus Maximus, riders prepared for the final class of the weekend at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Rome. Five riders ride clear in the first round of the CSI2* 1.45m Grand Prix presented by PremiuMares. Ultimately Luca Coata claimed the top spot and his second win of the day.

Luca Coata secured a home win aboard his 9-year-old mare Holly del Rilate. The Italian rider raced across the course, stopping the clock at a lightning fast 39.50 seconds. When asked abot his win, a beaming Coata said, "I am really happy, it’s a really amazing feeling. I am from Rome, so it is a special show for me. Its an amazing show, the place is magic." Going on to say, "I am really happy with the results and really happy with how my horse jumped today. I think she is a really good mare for the future, for the big sport."

Fellow Italian rider Eleonora Sanna flawlessly piloted her mare Amaretto Daisy thorough the course. First out in the jump off, Sanna set the bar high but ultimately had to settle for second place, stopping the clock at 41.91 seconds. Sterling Malnik of the USA made quick work of the course aboard her mount Cap du Marais, securing third place despite four faults on course.

Fourth place went to Italy’s Antonia Vita Pinardi aboard Inostello M and fellow countryman Andrea Messersì rounded out the top five aboard Chacco Slice.

9th Place -                Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani, Uniquo (QAT)   

10th Place -             Aurore Dubus, Chipie de Maillet (FRA)
