Venue Spotlight: The Royal Hospital Chelsea

The Longines Global Champions heads to the iconic Royal Hospital Chelsea for the twelfth leg of the 2024 tour. Situated on the north bank of the River Thames, this unique venue brings the best of show jumping to London. 

The Royal Hospital Chelsea, located in the heart of the city, is a historic institution founded in 1682 by King Charles II to care for veteran soldiers who had become unfit for duty due to age or injury. Designed by Sir Christopher Wren, the architect behind St. Paul's Cathedral, the hospital exemplifies the grandeur and elegance of 17th-century architecture. The hospital's iconic red-coated Chelsea Pensioners, who are retired soldiers of the British Army, are a well-known sight in the city. The institution provides its residents with accommodation, meals, clothing, and medical care, promoting a strong sense of community among the veterans.

In addition to its primary role as a residence for veterans, the Royal Hospital Chelsea serves as a cultural and historical landmark, hosting numerous events throughout the year. The annual Chelsea Flower Show, one of the world's most prestigious horticultural events, is held on the hospital grounds, attracting visitors from around the globe.
